Man faces second-degree murder charge in Saskatchewan woman's death

CUMBERLAND HOUSE, Sask. — A man has been charged in the death of a female acquaintance in a northeast Saskatchewan community.

RCMP say they were called early Thursday morning for an unresponsive woman in Cumberland House.

Local EMS were tending to an injured 21-year-old when they arrived, who they've identified as Carissa Ballantyne from Cumberland House.

Ballantyne did not survive.

Police say they quickly identified a suspect who they say knew Ballantyne and placed him under arrest.

Acea Dorian, who is 21 from Cumberland House, has been charged with second-degree murder and is scheduled to appear in provincial court in La Ronge on Monday.
