Man, 23, dead after shooting in Ottawa: police

OTTAWA — Police say a 23-year-old man is dead after a shooting in Ottawa on Tuesday night.

Investigators with the Ottawa police say the incident happened at about 8:30 p.m., when police found a man in "severe medical distress" after reports of a shooting.

They say officers tended to the victim until paramedics took over and drove him to a hospital.

They say the man, identified as Tarek Dakhil of Ottawa, died of his injuries once there.

Police haven't released any information about possible suspects.

They're asking anyone with information to come forward.
