HALIFAX — Nova Scotia's police watchdog is investigating a Halifax officer for allegedly threatening a woman at a home in Eastern Passage.
The Serious Incident Response Team, or SIRT, says RCMP and Halifax police responded to the call Monday evening about an incident involving an officer and a woman the officer knows.
SIRT says in a statement that the off-duty officer surrendered to police and was taken into custody.
Acting Director Shauna MacDonald says her agency will determine if charges will be laid in the matter.
Nova Scotia RCMP say the woman was not with the man at the time of incident, and no one was injured.
SIRT is responsible for investigating all serious incidents involving police in Nova Scotia, including incidents of alleged domestic abuse.
