Man charged with biting a cop during a traffic stop in Mono, Ont.

MONO, Ont. — Provincial police in southern Ontario say they've charged a 20-year-old man after he allegedly bit a cop.

Police say the incident began early Saturday morning when an officer spotted a car travelling at high speed in Mono, Ont.

Investigators say officers were able to stop the vehicle at around 2:30 a.m., but allege the driver started using his car to ram a police cruiser.

They allege the driver began assaulting the officer when he was asked to exit the car, at which point they say the 20-year-old bit the officer's hand.

The man is facing charges including assaulting a peace officer causing bodily harm, assault with intent to resist arrest, racing a motor vehicle and possession of cocaine.

Police say he'll appear in court in Orangeville, Ont., at a later date.
